“Thousands of People in the Palm of Her Hand”

Mavis Staples performed a legendary performance this past weekend at the Richmond Folk Festival. The Richmond Folk Festival seeks to create an environment that is representative of varying cultures and traditions. In its 14th year, the festival still has kept this goal true.

Staples performance certainly helped add to the mission. Her performance garnered “what appeared to be the largest audience for a single performance.”

With a crowd that topped 200,000, Staples had a moving performance that was said to be a “kind of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
